Tradin Organic marks 12.5 years of cocoa processing and looks ahead to further growth 

Tradin Organic is marking 12.5 years of cocoa processing, reflecting on the development of its operations in Middenmeer since 2013. What started under the name Crown of Holland has grown into a fully continuous operation producing organic cocoa semi-finished products, such as cocoa butter and powder, for the global food industry. 

Over the past decade, the operation has evolved from a small-scale start-up into an industrial production environment with multiple processing lines. Through ongoing investments in automation, capacity, and process optimization, output has increased significantly. Today, tens of thousands of tones of organic cocoa beans are processed annually into high-quality semi-finished products. 

This growth reflects increasing global demand for organic and transparent cocoa supply chains. At the same time, customer expectations around traceability and supply chain control continue to rise. Tradin Organic responds to this by combining scale, quality and integration, supported by direct sourcing from origins including Sierra Leone, the Dominican Republic and Peru. 

“For us, this milestone primarily reflects our development into a stable and efficient 24/7 operation. Continuous investments in automation and process optimization have structurally improved both reliability and capacity,” says Michiel Wolthuis, Manufacturing Manager at Tradin Organic. At the same time, it reflects the dedication of our employees, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning, and their continued commitment throughout our journey. 

Looking ahead, the company will continue to focus on optimizing production, with emphasis on energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and operational reliability. Preparations are also underway for a third production line to support future growth. 

With around 50 employees and an increasingly automated operation, Tradin Organic continues to strengthen its position as an integrated and future-ready player in the global organic cocoa supply chain.
