Quality Research Intern (BSc/MSc)

Overview
Within the Quality Research Internship you are a part of our Quality team and will be working on the food safety, organic integrity and the food quality of our product portfolio. Working under one of our Quality Coordinators you will be helping out with general quality-related activities next to working on an individual research project. You will work with different legislations, international quality standards (e.g. BRC, HACCP, KRAV) and information databases (e.g. RASFF).


Your tasks, responsibilities and objectives include
•    Assist with processing analysis data of incoming products
•    Regular contact with international customers and suppliers regarding quality matters
•    Work on your own research project, with active support from all departments of Tradin Organic
•    Create a report of your individual research project and present the outcome within the company
•    Communication with and/or visits to Tradin’s subcontractors (e.g. warehouses, laboratories, suppliers)

For this internship, you are required to be or have
•    Studying for a BSc or MSc degree in a food/quality or nutrition/health related field (e.g. Food Technology, Food Quality Management or Nutrition & Health)
•    Living in the Netherlands and available for a time span of at least 20 weeks 
•    Demonstrated proficiency in the English language (verbal and written) and Dutch (other languages e.g. Spanish, French or German are a big plus)
•    Skills/characteristics such as: self-starter, independent worker, curious, responsible, good problem-solving skills, good communication skills
•    Experience with handling confidential data is a plus

Examples of Research Topics include, but are not limited to
•    Development of an allergen assessment tool
•    Risk assessment of contaminants (e.g. 3-MCPD, tropane alkaloids)
•    Literature study on the legislation on baby food products and possible implementation
•    Assessment of possible implementation of new certification (e.g. Halal)
•    In-depth analysis of the current analysis schedule (incl. quality and safety assessment)

•    Assessment of possible implementation of new certification
o    Investigate the requirements to apply for this certification
o    Check what the requirements will be for Tradin Organic and our product range
o    Assess the area of interest for our product range (involving our commercial department as well)
o    Write a proposal and cost estimate for the new certification
 
•    In-depth analysis of the current analysis schedule (incl. quality and safety assessment)
o    Synchronization and assessment of historic data
o    Literature study on the current legislation and the product range of Tradin Organic
o    Analysis of the available data and the current analysis schedule
o    Write an advisory report regarding possible changes in the analysis schedule

•    Risk assessment of contaminants
o    Literature research on the contaminant 
o    Risk assessment of the product portfolio of Tradin Organic
o    Contact with stakeholders outside our organization (e.g. EFSA, branch organizations, customers)
o    Contact with laboratories able to perform analysis on the contaminant being researched
o    Write an advisory report regarding analysis on specific risk-products (incl. cost estimate)
