Job overview
As Operations Director you are responsible to provide leadership and manage strategic planning/alignment and tactical execution of all production/operating processes and for all processing sites of Tradin Organic plants and co-manufacturing activities. The scope of this position includes Tradin Organic plants in The Netherlands, Bulgaria and Ethiopia (company owned), co-manufacturing, production projects and engineering and Warehousing  & logistics activities. You will be responsible for the development of international operational strategies and tactics to execute and functional business plans strategy, vision and goals.
You will have direct accountability for meeting plant overall standards for safety, quality, operational effectiveness, people and organizational development and financial performance. You will build the operations processes and tools to streamline execution and provide a method for capturing insight into additional opportunities for improvement.  You will develop the Operations team at corporate at plant sites to expand Tradin Organics capabilities and performance in execution.
 
 
Your job tasks, responsibilities and objectives

Leverage the Platform and Provide World Class Operations
• Ensure establishment of operational strategies to ensure tactical alignment for all Sites and co-manufacturing. Leads strategic planning and coordinates operations/quality management deliverables to ensure customer and    product/quality standards requirements are met within specifications.
• Analyze and implement changes on targeted cost savings opportunities. 
• Accountable for overseeing execution and delivery of logistics, production commitments and Food Safety  based on agreed monthly and annual sales plans.
• Provide leadership on strategic planning and collaborates with Procurement/Sales/Supply Chain organizations to ensure availability of raw materials and ability to meet customer specifications and timelines. Support the commercial organization in bids for new business
• Lead the implementation of appropriate Operations Management platform/s that optimizes cost, service, and operational efficiency.
• Assist in identifying equipment requirements for capital investments and processor/packer acquisitions.
 
Production Efficiency
• Responsible for supporting overseeing the overall operational performance for all Processing Sites. Supports planning and provides delivery oversight to the manufacturing annual business plan.
• Lead a culture that builds, operates and maintains sound plants that are, safe and efficient.
• Lead and supports the implementation of continuing improvement programs.
 
Warehousing & Logistics
• Ensure guidance and support to the Logistics team of freight movement between locations.  This will include internal moves between company owned/operated sites, inbound material from suppliers, and outbound customer shipments. 
• Provide direction and support to transportation modes and carriers that meet cost and service objectives.
 
Project Engineering
• Accountable for timely overseeing execution and delivery of engineering design within budget.
• Provide direction and support to engineering team of production lines and facility.
• Responsible for the installation, modifications, quality control testing, operating procedure, inspection processes adhering to engineering principles and safety regulations.
 
Strengthen the Organization
• Identify process requirements and tools as inputs to the creation of standardized best practices.
• Take a leading role in implementing new processes and ensuring compliance across the team. 
• Provide change management leadership to the team and for partner functions.
• Responsible for management and compliance of capital and operating budgets for all Processing Sites.
• Ensure and hold direct reports accountable for meeting and controlling expenses and targets.
• Responsible for the strategic planning, alignment and tactical execution.
• Support procurement/sales departments to establish best sourcing/pricing practices.
 
People, Resource and Budget Management
• Provide leadership and oversees general policies and programs.
• Lead, develop and engage plant manufacturing leads and location leadership team members.
• Responsible for developing strong leaders/ managers/ supervisors (at all levels).
 
 
For this challenging role you are required to have
• Master degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Food engineering or similar experience and thinking level. The candidate must have strong experience in executing international plants.
• Minimum of  10 years’ experience in manufacturing and/or project work and/or engineering.
• Functional and production operations and technical knowledge including distribution are required. 
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to take complex problems and develop quantitative models to assess options and impacts.  Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data evaluation and analysis is a must.
• Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to develop effective working relationships.
• Experience using, improving, and/or implementing production operations management solutions.
• Candidate must have supervisory/managerial experience in a professional setting.
• Prior management experience in logistics operations, and a strong understanding of transportation.  Experience closely working with customer service, warehouse operations, and/or planning.
• Proven experience with implementation six sigma principles at Black Belt level.
• Demonstrated ability to develop regional business plans, measures and objectives.
• Proven ability to lead by influencing by building commitment for his/her ideas with sites not directly under his/her control.
• Proven engineering and project experience.
• Proficient in English, good command of the Dutch language is a plus.
