Crown of Holland is Tradin Organic’s new cocoa grinding facility in the Netherlands. The facility specializes in processing certified cocoa beans into derivatives, such as cocoa powder, butter, and liquor.
The new plant is located in a new sustainable business park, Agriport A7, just 40km north of Amsterdam and close to Zaandam, the heart of the Dutch cocoa processing industry. Crown of Holland has been operational since September 2013.
With Tradin Organic as a sister company, Crown of Holland has strong global sources for a wide range of certified cocoa beans: Organic, Fair Trade, Rain Forest Alliance and UTZ, to name just a few, enable us to provide fully certified cocoa products. Tradin Organic’s commercial expertise and Crown of Holland’s processing know-how make the perfect match to supply the chocolate and related industries with sustainable cocoa products. In addition, Crown of Holland offers customized cocoa solutions for the specialists in the respective industries.
The last essential details are state-of-the-art processing equipment and a very particular whole-bean roasting process: In this procedure the whole beans are roasted before breaking and winnowing, as opposed to other common techniques, in which the beans are de-shelled before roasting. This specialized roasting methodology is implemented to further perfect the outstanding quality of our range of certified cocoa derivatives.
Crown of Holland follows the latest food and labor safety regulations and certifications. With the plant in operation from mid-2013 approximately 30 new job positions will be created in the region of North-Holland. At Agriport A7, companies are encouraged to make intelligent use of each other’s knowledge, residuals and by-products. For example, by-products, such as shells, can be used to produce organic animal feed in cooperation with nearby businesses. The aim to make all our activities and extensive processes as sustainable as possible is deeply rooted within Tradin’s company philosophy.
